North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries
The North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries – NASPL – is an official organization that represents all of the US State Lotteries and Provincial Lotteries, all the major Canadian Lotteries as well as those from Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Membership of the NASPL has grown dramatically over the years since its creation back in 1971 – and today a grand total of 52 separate North American Lotteries are members of the North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries.
The NASPL is one of 5 regional lottery associations from around the world that make up the World Lottery Association.
What the NASPL Does
The NASPL provides a vital role in assisting North American Lotteries operate more effectively in a variety of different ways.
It acts as a one-stop shop for information on all North American Lotteries so that NASPL and the individual USA Lottery and Canadian Lottery companies may share their knowledge and experience.
It also acts as an interface among the State Lottery and Provincial Lottery companies enabling them to easily communicate with each other regarding things such as developments within the North American Lotteries industry and the World Lotteries industry at large.
The NASPL also provides a body that carries out research and development within the lottery industry as well as assisting North American Lotteries to operate with the highest degree of integrity, security and efficiency.
The North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries – in addition to this – assists in the training and development of the staff of its member lotteries.
Very importantly – the NASPL also works tirelessly in encouraging its member lotteries to maintain the confidence and support of the public in having State Lotteries and Provincial Lotteries as a vehicle to raise funding for good causes and the needs of its citizens.

NASPL News
The North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries – NASPL – produces an official magazine each month called “Lottery Insights”.
“Lottery Insights” covers anything and everything relating to the world of lotteries. From new lotteries being launched to games being withdrawn – from new lottery software and technological developments to statistics and facts relating to particular lottery companies – if its lottery-related, you’ll find it here in the NASPL magazine.
NASPL Events
The North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries hosts various events each year throughout the calendar.
These NASPL events range from Lottery Directors’ meetings, Lottery Leadership Institutes, Lottery Sales & Marketing meetings as well as a National Conference.
In addition to these – there are events held around the globe every month by the World Lottery Association.
NASPL Regions
The North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries and its member lottery companies are also broken down into 4 separate regions. Each of these NASPL regions is made up of 13 different North American Lotteries.

Other Lottery Organizations
As well as the North American Association of State & Provincial Lotteries there are other official organizations around the world that exist to help, regulate and educate the lotteries of the world.
These include… World Lottery Association:
The World Lottery Association is a global body with an overall aim of advancing the interests of State-authorized lotteries. At the time of writing at has 143 members – all lottery companies from right around the world – as well as many associate lottery-related members. The goal of the WLA is to be recognized as the leading authority on the lottery business thoughout the world. The WLA is made up of 5 regional Lottery Associations from around the world. European State Lotteries and Toto Association: (Eurpoean Lotteries)
The European State Lotteries and Toto Association was created in May 1999, is based in Lausanne, Switzerland and is made up of European State Lottery and Toto companies. It is one of the 5 regional lottery associations from around the world that are part of the World Lottery Association. Their role is to assist in promoting effective communication between their members – the European Lotteries – the European and international gaming industry, the institutions of the European Union and the various European Governments as well as fully co-operating with the World Lottery Association. La Corporacion Iberoamericana de Loterias y Apuestas:
La Corporacion Iberoamericana de Loterias y Apuestas de Estado, (CIBELAE) – is an organization that comprises of and looks after Spanish Lottery, Portuguese Lottery and Latin American Lottery companies such as South America’s largest – the Brazil Lottery. In English, the organization is known as the Latin American Corporation of State Lottery and Betting. It was established back in October 1988. CIBLAE is also one of the 5 regional lottery associations from around the world that form the World Lottery Association. Asia Pacific Lottery Association: APLA
APLA is another of the 5 regional associations that make up the World Lottery Association and represents 25 lottery companies from 10 different countries throughout the Asia Pacific region. Included in its members are all the principal Australian Lottery companies and the New Zealand Lottery. Members also include the Singapore Pools from Singapore and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) – who run the Hong Kong Lottery as well as Japanese Lottery companies who operate Takarakuji throughout Japan. African Association of State Lotteries: AALE
AALE is also one of the five regional lottery associations that make up the World Lottery Association and represents the interests of African Lottery companies including Gidani – the South African Lottery company. Multi State Lottery Association:
The MUSL – Multi State Lottery Association – is an association that is owned and operated by its members which are made up of 44 different US State Lotteries & Provincial Lotteries. Each of these US Lottery members offers at least one of the MUSL games – the largest and most well known being the Powerball Lottery.
