Lottery Oklahoma Oklahoma Lotto

The Oklahoma State Lottery was originally created back on November 2nd 2004 after a piece of legislation was passed – having been put to the vote and received an overwhelming “Yes” from the State’s citizens – allowing a State Lottery to be operated within Oklahoma.

The OK Lottery is operated by the Oklahoma State government who oversee the running and organization of OK Lottery games.

Right from when the first Oklahoma Lotto ticket was sold back on October 12th 2005 – the principal aim of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission was to raise funds for education within the State.

This is still the case today and the Oklahoma Lottery can proudly claim to be one of the few USA Lottery companies that puts all of its lottery profits into the area of State education.

The Oklahoma Lottery Commission is based in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma Lottery Overview

The Oklahoma Lottery sells lottery tickets from its network of authorized OK Lotto retailers throughout the State and its HQ address is 3817 N., Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.

In addition to the OK Lottery HQ there are 14 Claim Centers where you can claim your OK Lotto winnings – these are at Tulsa, Ardmore, Bartlesville, Elk City, Guymon, Lawton, Madill, Norman, Muskogee, Oklahoma City (x2), Pauls Valley, Perry and Yukon.

The Oklahoma Lottery also takes part in 3 of the biggest world lotteries – the Multi-State USA Lottery games Mega Millions and Powerball which we will be looking into in much greater depth – as well as the slightly smaller Multi-State game – the Hot Lotto.

We will be looking at the various OK Lotto games below – how these games work and who can play them – as well as delving into some history of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission in detail.

Oklahoma Lottery Games

There are numerous games that are offered by the Oklahoma Lottery including the Mega Millions and Powerball – two of the largest world lotteries – as well as the Hot Lotto which is also a Multi-State USA Lottery game.

We will first of all take a look at these multi-state USA Lottery games – that the OK Lottery offers in conjunction with the MUSL Multi-State Lottery Association and Mega Millions Consortium – and later move on to the other OK Lotto games available.

Currently – the games offered by the OK Lottery that players from anywhere around the world can buy lottery tickets online for are these three huge US Lotteries – the Mega Millions, the Powerball and the Hot Lotto.

Other games offered by the Oklahoma State Lottery that can be played in-state are noted further down the page – if any of these Oklahoma Lotto games become available to a wider audience at a later date – we will be writing about it here.

Oklahoma Lottery Powerball OK Powerball

Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run & syndicated across the USA by the MUSL – Multi State Lottery Association – and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced a world record jackpot of US$ 1.58 BILLION. This huge amount is the biggest lottery jackpot to have been won to date in the history of world lottery games.

The very first Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1992 with 16 USA Lottery companies – who were all members of the MUSL – taking part after the game changed its format and name from Lotto America which had first begun on February 13th 1988.

Oklahoma Lottery Powerball Overview

The Oklahoma Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this case the Oklahoma Powerball – as part of its overall lottery portfolio.

The Oklahoma Powerball was first sold on January 14th 2006 when the Oklahoma Lottery Commission became the 32nd member to join the MUSL – Multi State Lottery Association – who run & syndicate the game across the USA.

Oklahoma Lottery Powerball How it Works

The Oklahoma Lottery Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all the States and Districts across the United States of America that offer the game.

Jackpots start off at US$ 40 MILLION and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – making for some massive jackpot figures.

6 numbers are drawn in total for the Powerball Oklahoma game from 2 separate drawing machines – first of all 5 numbers from 69 white balls are drawn followed by 1 number (the POWERball) from 26 red balls.

Draws for the Powerball OK take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (10.59pm EST).

In addition to the 6 main Powerball numbers drawn – a further number is drawn – using a Random Number Generator…the Powerball POWERPLAY number…

POWERPLAY…

This separate Powerball POWERPLAY number drawn will be either 2, 3, 4, 5 and occasionally number 10 – and is there to give players of the OK Powerball a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the OK Powerball jackpot itself.

With Powerball POWER PLAY – you will multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x – greatly increasing the amount you can walk away with.

During special promotions – the Powerball POWER PLAY multiplier will be 10x – allowing OK Lottery players to increase their Powerball winnings by an incredible 10 times!

So, for just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your OK Lottery Powerball winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by adding the Power Ball POWER PLAY option when playing.

This record lottery win was shared equally between 3 winning Mega Millions tickets from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland and is the 2nd biggest ever lotto jackpot won to date.

The very first Mega Millions draw took place on May 17th 2002 with 6 USA Lottery companies taking part who were all members of the Mega Millions Consortium.

The game had changed its name and format from the Big Game which had started on August 31st 1996. Upon this change – 2 further State Lotteries joined and many more were to follow.

Oklahoma Mega Millions Overview

The Oklahoma Lottery is 1 of 46 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Mega Millions – in this particular case the Oklahoma Mega Millions – as part of its overall lotto portfolio.

The Mega Millions OK was first sold on January 31st 2010 when the Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL) who run the Powerball game – of which the OK Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the Mega Millions consortium – allowing the sales of Mega Millions in Powerball States and Powerball in Mega Millions States.

Oklahoma Mega Millions How it Works

The Oklahoma Mega Millions works in exactly the same way as the Mega Millions game works in all the States and Districts in the USA that offer the game.

Jackpots start off at US$ 15 MILLION and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – making for some enormous jackpot figures that can be won on the Oklahoma Lottery Mega Millions.

6 numbers are drawn in total for the OK Mega Millions – from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 75 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the MEGAball) from 15 gold balls.

Draws for the Oklahoma Mega Millions take place twice every week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10.00pm CST (11.00pm EST).

In addition to the 6 Mega Millions numbers drawn – a further number is drawn – using a Random Number Generator…the MEGAPLIER number…

MEGAPLIER…

This separate MEGAPLIER multiplier number drawn will be either 2, 3, 4 or 5 – and is there to give players of the Oklahoma Lottery Mega Millions a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the OK Mega Millions jackpot itself.

With the Mega Millions MEGAPLIER feature – you are able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x – greatly increasing the amount you can walk away with.

If you match the 5 main Mega Millions numbers playing with the MEGAPLIER add-on – and a MEGAPLIER number of 5 is drawn – the second tier prize of US$ 1 MILLION would be increased by x5 and you could win US$ 5 MILLION.

A great improvement to the MEGAPLIER facility occurred on October 19th 2013.

This can make your Mega Millions win even bigger when you play Mega Millions using the MEGAPLIER prize multiplier option.

The 2nd Mega Millions prize has automatically been quadrupled to US$ 1 MILLION and a more powerful MEGAPLIER multiplier of x5 has been brought in.

This means that if you match all 5 of the main Mega Millions numbers and play using the MEGAPLIER option – you will now win US$ 5 MILLION if a MEGAPLIER of x5 has been drawn.

So, for just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Oklahoma Mega Millions winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by adding the Mega Millions MEGAPLIER option when playing.
