Belgium Lottery Nationale Loterij

Nationale Loterij

Belgium lottery games can trace their history way back to May 29th 1934 when the Belgian government authorized the organization of the Colonial Lottery with the first draw taking place on October 18th.

The original concept was to provide net profits for the Colonial Treasury and then to the Funds for the Homeland Welfare of Congo.

The Colonial Lottery changed its name to the African Lottery on June 30th 1960.

The current Belgian National LotteryLottery Nationale – was created on December 10th 1962. It is run by the Belgian Ministry of Finance and is now a public limited company with the state being the sole shareholder.

In 1976, the Minister of Finance gave the go ahead for the organizing of “number” lotteries in addition to the “ticket” lotteries that were already in existence in Belgium.

Games offered by the Loterie Nationale include Joker, Keno, Pick 3, Win For Life, EuroMillions and the Belgium Lottery flagship game which we are going to look at in detail here – the Belgian Lotto

Belgium Lotto Overview

Belgium Lotto

The Belgium Lotto is the main lottery game offered by the Belgium National Lottery (Loterie Nationale) of the state of Belgium.

The very first Belgium Lotto draw took place on February 4th 1978.

The Belgian National Lottery – Loterie Nationale – introduced a second weekly draw for the Lotto on October 6th 1993 when it began draws on Wednesdays each week. .

The Belgian Lotto 6/45 is a traditional draw-style, lotto jackpot game and is the flagship game offered by the Loterie Nationale.

The Belgium Lotto has a jackpot that starts off at a minimum of € 1 MILLION and can grow quickly.

The Belgium Lotto “rollovers” occur in a slightly different way to many lotteries. If no-one wins the Wednesday jackpot draw, the jackpot figure will be added onto the following Wednesdays’ jackpot amount. The same happens with the Saturday draw – if the Saturday Lotto jackpot is not won – the jackpot will be added onto the next Saturday’s jackpot figure.

Draws for the Belgian Lotto take place twice per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8.10pm CET.

We are very happy that we have reviewed the Belgium Lotto 6/45 and would highly recommend taking a good look at how it works below…

Belgium Lotto How it Works

Lotto.be

The Belgium National Lottery uses what’s called a matrix of 6/45 which means that the Nationale Loterij draw 6 numbers out of a range of numbers from 1 to 45 followed by 1 Bonus Number.

So – when you play the Belgium Lotto you will need to select your 6 numbers out that number range from 1 to 45.

If you match all 6 of the numbers drawn then you will be the winner of a first division prize – the Belgian Lotto jackpot.

The Bonus Number is used to determine the winners on prize winning levels 2, 4, 6 and 8.

In addition to the jackpot itself – there are 7 other ways in which you can win on the Belgium Lotto – which means that are a great number of prizes to be won twice every week for anyone who plays the Loterie Nationale Belge.

A “QuickPick” facility is available when playing the Belgium Lottery very much the same as the “Lucky Dip” option that is used in the UK National Lottery or Europe’s EuroMillions or nearly all USA lottery games – which means that you can ask the lottery retailer or computer to randomly select all your Loterie Nationale numbers for you.

So – playing the Belgian Lotto is simple – just select your own numbers or request them to be randomly generated for you by choosing the “QuickPick” option.

The cost of each entry into the Belgium Lotto is € 1.00.
