CT Lottery Mega Millions
The Connecticut Lottery is 1 of 46 US State & District Lotteries that offer the Mega Millions game – in this case the Connecticut Lottery Mega Millions – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
The Mega Millions is a Multi-State USA Lottery game that is run and operated by the Mega Millions Consortium – who administer and syndicate the game across the U.S.A. and is one of the largest lottery games in the world – having produced a massive world record jackpot of an massive US$ 656 MILLION in March 2012. This huge amount was shared between 3 winning Mega Millions tickets from Illinois, Kansas an Maryland and ranks as the 2nd biggest jackpot ever won to date in the history of jackpot lottery games throughout the world.
The very first Mega Millions draw took place on May 17th 2002 with 6 USA Lottery companies taking part who were all members of the Mega Millions Consortium.
The game had changed its name and format from the Big Game which had first started back on August 31st 1996. Upon this change – 2 further State Lottery compa nies joined and more would follow.
Tickets for the CT Mega Millions were first put on sale back on January 31st 2010 when the Multi State Lottery Association (the MUSL) who operate the rival USA Powerball game – of which the CT Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the Mega Millions consortium – allowing the sales of Mega Millions in Powerball states and Powerball in Mega Millions states.
CT Mega Millions – How it Works
The Connecticut Lottery Mega Millions works in exactly the same way as the Mega Millions game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 MILLION and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – making for some enormous jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the Connecticut Mega Millions from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers are drawn from 70 white balls and then 1 number (the MEGAball) is drawn from 25 gold balls.
Draws for the Connecticut Lottery Mega Millions take place twice every week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11.00pm EST.
In addition to the 6 Mega Millions numbers drawn – a further number is drawn – using a Random Number Generator - the MEGAPLIER number…
MEGAPLIER…
This separate MEGAPLIER prize multiplier number drawn will be either 2, 3, 4 or 5 – and is there to give players of the CT Mega Millions a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the Mega Millions jackpot itself.
With MEGAPLIER – you are able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x – greatly increasing the amount you can walk away with.
If a player matches the 5 main Mega Millions numbers playing with the MEGAPLIER add-on – and a MEGAPLIER number of 5 is drawn – the second tier prize of US$ 1 MILLION would be multiplied by 5 and they would win US$ 5 MILLION.
CT Mega Millions – How to Play
The aim when you are playing is to correctly select as many of the Mega Millions winning prize numbers as possible – and with as many as 9 different ways in which you can win on the Connecticut Mega Millions – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are generally 4 ways you can play the CT Mega Millions…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 plus your 1 Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 25.
2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 and use the
Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Mega Ball (gold ball)
number for you from 1 to 25 – using a lotto number picker / random number generator.
3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 using a random number generator – and then pick your own Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 25.
4. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose both your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 70 AND also your 1 Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 25 using its random number generator.

MEGAPLIER…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your CT Lottery Mega Millions winnings on all levels except the jackpot itself – by adding the MEGAPLIER option when you are playing the CT Mega Millions.
If your chosen Connecticut Mega Millions numbers match the Mega Millions winning numbers on any of these prize levels – you will immediately increase your winnings by either 2, 3, 4 or 5 times – depending on what MEGAPLIER number was drawn.

CT Mega Millions Winners
Even though the CT Lottery has only been selling Mega Millions tickets since January 31st 2010 – there have already been many lucky Connecticut Lottery Mega Millions big winners…
The biggest win so far on the CT Mega Millions has been a 2nd prize of US$ 1 Million won on January 4th 2011 by Joye Epps from West Haven. Joye had successfully matched all 5 main Mega Millions winning numbers and had played with the MegaPlier option having her US$ 250,000 quadrupled.

CT Mega Millions – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won a Connecticut Mega Millions jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this important choice within 60 days of the ticket validation date.
If you choose the annuity option – your Connecticut MegaMillions winnings will be paid to you annually over a 30 year period.
For all prizes on the CT Mega Millions – you will have 180 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Mega Millions ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Connecticut Mega Millions Lottery is up to $599 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any Connecticut Lottery retailers across the State.
If your Connecticut MegaMillions win is between $600 and $5,000 then you will need to claim your prize from one of the CT Lottery High-Tier Claim Centers at New London, West Haven, Norwalk or Waterbury – or from the CTLottery HQ in Rocky Hill.
If you’re CT Mega Millions win is more than $5,000 or a jackpot, you will need to make your claim at the CT Lotto Headquarters in Rocky Hill.
