Mass Lottery Mega Millions
The Mass State Lottery is 1 of 46 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the huge Mega Millions game – in this case the Mass Mega Millions – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
The Mega Millions is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run and operated by the Mega Millions Consortium – who administer and syndicate the game across the USA and is one of the largest lottery games in the world – having produced a massive world record jackpot of an incredible US$ 656 MILLION in March 2012. This jackpot was split between 3 winning Mega Millions tickets from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland and stands as the 2nd biggest jackpot ever won in the history of world lottery games.
The very first Mega Millions draw took place on May 17th 2002 with 6 USA Lottery companies taking part who were all members of the Mega Millions Consortium.
The Mega Millions lottery had changed its name and format from the Big Game which had started on August 31st 1996. Upon this change – 2 further State Lottery companies joined and more were soon to follow.
Tickets for the Mega Millions MA were first sold back on May 17th 2002 – taking part in the very first Mega Millions draw since the Mass State Lottery had already been a member of the Big Game Consortium since the outset on August 31st 1996 – selling the Mass Mega Millions predecessor – the Big Game.
Mega Millions MA – How it Works...
The Mass Mega Millions lottery works in exactly the same way as the Mega Millions game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 MILLION and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – making for some enormous jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the Mega Millions MA from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 70 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the MEGAball) from 25 gold balls.
Draws for the Mass MegaMillions take place twice every week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11.00pm EST.
MEGAPLIER…
Many USA Lottery companies that offer the Mega Millions game also offer the option of playing using a Mega Millions MEGAPLIER.
This is where in addition to the 6 Mega Millions numbers drawn a further number is drawn – the MEGAPLIER number – using a Random Number Generator…
This separate MEGAPLIER number drawn will be 2, 3, 4 or 5 – and is there to give players of the MegaMillions a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the MegaMillions jackpot itself.
MEGAPLIER enables players to multiply their winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x – greatly increasing the amount they can walk away with.
If a player matches the 5 main Mega Millions numbers, for example, whilst playing with the MEGAPLIER add-on – and a MEGAPLIER number of 5 is drawn – the second tier Mega Millions prize of US$ 1 MILLION would be multiplied by x5 and they could win US$ 5 MILLION.

Mega Millions MA – Record Jackpots...
The biggest jackpot ever won to date on the Mega Millions MA has been the huge US$ 294 Million won on July 2nd 2004 by Geraldine WIlliams from Lowell.
The 2nd biggest win in Massachusetts Lottery history was the massive win of US$ 197 Million won in April 1999 by Maria Grasso from Beacon Hill in Boston. This jackpot was won on the predecessor to the Mega Millions – the Big Game.
August 19th 2011 saw the 3rd largest win to date on the Massachusetts Mega Millions when US$ 32 Million was won by Candido Oliveira from Dorchester, MA.
The 4th largest Mass Mega Millions jackpot win to date has been the jackpot of US$ 30.5 Million – won on October 16th 2012 by Sandeep Singh from Hyannis. This was half of the Mega Millions jackpot of US$ 61 Million for that draw and shared with a winner from California.
Mega Millions MA – How Prizes are Paid...
If you have won a Mass MegaMillions jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – If you choose the annuity option – your MegaMillions MA winnings will be paid to you annually over a 30 year period.
For all prizes on the Mass Mega Millions – you will have 365 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your MegaMillions Massachsuetts ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Mega Millions Mass is up to US$ 600 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any of the Mass State Lottery retailers.
If you’ve had a win of between US$ 601 to US$ 49,999 on the Mass Mega Millions you will be able to claim your prize by going to any of the Massachusetts Lottery regional offices at Boston, Braintree, New Bedford, Woburn, Worcester or West Springfield.
