Arizona Mega Millions

The Arizona Lottery is 1 of 45 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Mega Millions game – in this case the Arizona Mega Millions – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.

Mega Millions is a Multi-State USA Lottery run by the Mega Millions Consortium – who administer and syndicate the game right across the USA and is one of the largest lottery games in the world – having produced a massive world record jackpot of an incredible US$ 656 MILLION in March 2012. This huge amount was shared between 3 Mega Millions winning tickets from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland and currently stands as the biggest jackpot ever won in the history of jackpot lotto games anywhere around the world.

The very first Mega Millions draw took place on May 17th 2002 with 6 USA Lottery companies taking part who were all members of the Mega Millions Consortium.

The game had changed its name and format from the Big Game which had first started back on August 31st 1996. Upon this change – 2 further State Lotteries joined and more would follow.

The AZ Mega Millions was first sold on April 18th 2010 when the Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL) who run the Powerball game – of which the Arizona Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the Mega Millions consortium – allowing the sales of Mega Millions in Powerball states and Powerball in Mega Millions states.

AZ Mega Millions How It Works

The Arizona Mega Millions works in exactly the same way as the Mega Millions game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.

Jackpots start off at US$ 15 MILLION and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – making for some enormous jackpot figures.

6 numbers are drawn in total for the MegaMillions Arizona from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 75 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the MEGAball) from 15 gold balls.

Draws for the AZ Mega Millions take place twice every week on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.00pm MST (11.00pm EST).

In addition to the 6 Mega Millions numbers drawn – a further number is drawn – using a Random Number Generator…the Mega Millions MEGAPLIER number…

MEGAPLIER…

This separate MEGAPLIER prize multiplier number drawn will be either 2, 3, 4 or 5 – and is there to give players of the Arizona Mega Millions a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the Mega Millions Arizona jackpot itself.

With MEGAPLIER – you are able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x – greatly increasing the amount you can walk away with.

If a player matches the 5 main Mega Millions numbers playing with the MEGAPLIER add-on – and a MEGAPLIER number of 5 is drawn – the second tier prize of US$ 1 MILLION would be multiplied by 5 and they would win US$ 5 MILLION.

AZ Mega Millions How to Play

The aim when you are playing is to correctly select as many of the Mega Millions winning prize numbers as possible – and with a total of 9 different ways in which you can win on the Mega Millions Arizona – you have a great chance of winning a prize.

There are 4 main ways you can play the AZ Mega Millions

1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 75 plus your 1 Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 15.

2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 75 and use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Mega Ball (gold ball) number for you from 1 to 15 – using a lottery number generator / random number generator.

3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 75 using a random number generator – and then pick your own Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 15.

4. Use the Quick Pick option available to let the computer choose both your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 75 and also your 1 Mega Ball (gold ball) number from 1 to 15 using its random number generator.

You can use any of these methods whether you are playing the MegaMillions AZ in-state or if you Play Mega Millions Online with an authorized online lottery ticket sales company such as TheLotter.

MEGAPLIER…

For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your Arizona Lottery Mega Millions winnings on all 8 levels except the jackpot itself – by adding the MEGAPLIER option when you are playing the Arizona Mega Millions.

If your chosen Arizona Mega Millions numbers match the Mega Millions winning numbers on any of these prize levels – you are immediately able to increase your winnings by either 2, 3, 4 or 5 times – depending on what Mega Millions MEGAPLIER number was drawn.

If you play Mega Millions with MEGAPLIER and you are lucky enough to correctly select the 5 main Mega Millions numbers and a MEGAPLIER number of 5 is drawn – the second tier Mega Millions prize of US$ 1 MILLION will be increased by x5 and you will walk away with US$ 5 MILLION.

An enhancement to the MEGAPLIER option took place on October 19th 2013.

This will increase your winnings even further if you play Mega Millions using the
MEGAPLIER multiplier.

A Mega Millions MEGAPLIER multiplier of x5 was introduced meaning that your non-jackpot winnings can now be increased by up to 5 times.

This means - for example - that if you match ALL 5 of the main Mega Millions numbers and play using the MEGAPLIER feature – your Mega Millions 2nd prize
win of US$ 1 MILLION can now be increased up to US$ 5 MILLION.

AZ Mega Millions Winners

Even though the Arizona Lottery has only been selling Mega Millions tickets since April 18th 2010 – there have already been some lucky Arizona Lottery Mega Millions winners…

May 4th 2010 saw the second win of a US$ 250,000 2nd prize on the Arizona Mega Millions when 12 co-workers from an office pool in Tucson struck lucky after purchasing 60 Quick Pick tickets.

April 27th 2010 brought the first win of a US$ 250,000 2nd prize on the Mega Millions AZ when Michael Pettigrew of Yuma – who previously had to travel to California to buy his Mega Millions tickets – struck lucky.

Apart from these there have been various other winners of 2nd prizes on the Mega Millions Arizona.

AZ Mega Millions How Prizes are Paid

If you have won an Arizona Mega Millions jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this important choice within 60 days of the date of your claim.

If you choose the annuity option – your Arizona Mega Millions winnings will be paid to you annually over a 30 year period.

For all prizes on the Arizona Mega Millions– you have 180 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your Mega Millions ticket will become invalid.

If your win on the Arizona Mega Millions is up to US$ 600 – you should be able to claim your winnings at the majority of Arizona State Lottery retailers.

If you’ve had a win of more than US$ 600 on the Arizona Mega Millions – you will need to complete an ArizonaLottery Winner claim form and claim your prize by either taking it to the Phoenix or Tucson offices of the Arizona State Lottery or mailing it to them.

You needn’t worry if you play lottery online with one of the genuine and authorised online lottery ticket sale companies like TheLotter – as part of their role is to look after all these details for you – making sure that you receive your winnings directly and promptly.

Arizona Lottery – Other Games...
