NJ Lottery Powerball – Powerball NJ
The New Jersey Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this case the NJ Lottery Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.
Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run & syndicated across the USA by the Multi State Lottery Association – MUSL – and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced a record jackpot of an incredible US$ 1.58 BILLION in January 2016. This huge amount is the largest lottery jackpot ever won to date in the history of jackpot lottery games across the world and dwarfed the already huge US$ 656 MILLION record that was created by Mega Millions in March 2012.
The very first Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1992 with 16 USA Lottery companies – who were all members of the MUSL – taking part after the game changed its format and name from Lotto America which had originally started on February 13th 1988.
The New Jersey Powerball began its first operations back on January 31st 2010 when the Mega Millions consortium – of which the NJ Lottery is a member – entered into a cross-selling agreement with the MUSL – allowing the sales of Powerball in Mega Millions States and Mega Millions in Powerball States.
NJ Powerball – How it Works
The NJ Lottery Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.
Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and ROLLOVER after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by at least US$ 10 Million each time – making for some huge jackpot figures.
6 numbers are drawn in total for the New Jersey Powerball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers are drawn from 59 white balls are and then 1 number (the Powerball) is drawn from 35 red balls.
Draws for the NJ Lottery Powerball take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10.59pm EST and you will be able to check the New Jersey Lottery results soon after the draw.
There is also a Powerball prize multiplier facility available when playing that dramatically increases the size of a Powerball win and is called Powerball POWERPLAY...

NJ Powerball – How to Play
The aim when playing is to correctly select as many Powerball winning numbers as possible – and with 9 different ways in which you can win on the NJ Powerball Lottery – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
There are principally – 4 different ways in which you are able to play the New Jersey Powerball…
1. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 plus your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35.
2. Pick 5 of your own main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 and use the Quick Pick option to let the computer choose your Power Ball (red ball) number for you from 1 to 35 – using a computer powered random number generator.
3. Use the Quick Pick option to let the computer pick your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 using a random number generator – and then select your own Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35.
4. Use the Quick Pick option available to let the computer choose both your 5 main (white ball) numbers from 1 to 59 and also your 1 Power Ball (red ball) number from 1 to 35 using its random number generator.

POWERPLAY…
For just an extra dollar – you can choose to increase your New Jersey Lottery Powerball winnings on all levels except the jackpot – by adding the Powerball POWER PLAY option when playing the New Jersey Powerball.
If your chosen NJ Lottery Powerball numbers match the Powerball winning numbers on any of these 8 prize levels – you will then immediately increase your winnings by either 2, 3 or 4 times – depending on what NJ Lottery Powerball prize you have won.

NJ Powerball – Record Jackpots
The record NJ Powerball jackpot win to be achieved so far was won by Pedro Quezada from Passaic on March 23rd 2013 when the jackpot had reached a massive US$ 338.3 Million.
The 2nd largest New Jersey Powerball jackpots won to date have both been US$ 149.3 Million in the August 17th 2013 drawing. Each of these were 1/3 of the US$ 448 Million jackpot for that draw and were won by Mario Scarnici of Monmouth Junction and Ocean's 16. The other lucky winner was from Minnesota.
The 3rd biggest Powerball New Jersey jackpot won so far has been the US$ 315.3 MILLION which was won by a lucky single ticket holder on May 19th 2018.
The 4th biggest jackpot won to date on the NJ Lottery Powerball has been the huge amount of US$ 211.7 Million won back on March 13th 2010 by Sandra McNeil from Morristown.
This historic win was the first ever jackpot to be won on the NJ Powerball – coming only 42 days after the Lottery New Jersey first began selling Powerball tickets on January 31st 2010.
The 5th biggsest NJ Power Ball jackpot to be produced so far was won by Joseph and Celeste Tamburello from Tinton Falls, NJ on March 21st 2012 when they scoopd a cool US$ 70 Million.
NJ Powerball – How Prizes are Paid
If you have won an NJ Powerball jackpot – you will be able to claim your prize as either a cash lump sum or as an annuity payment – you will need to make this choice within 60 days of making your claim.
If you choose the annuity option available – your New Jersey Lottery Powerball winnings will then be paid to you in 30 installments over a 29 year period.
For all prizes on the NJ Powerball – you will have 365 days from the date of the draw taking place – to make your claim before your New Jersey Powerball ticket will become invalid.
If your win on the Power Ball NJ is up to US$ 599.50 – you will be able to claim your winnings at any of the NewJerseyLottery retailers.
If you’ve had a win of more than US$ 599.50 on the NJ Powerball you will be able to claim your prize either at an NJ Lottery retailer or at the NJ Lottery Headquarters in Lawrenceville using a claim form.
If you have won an NJ Powerball Jackpot – you will need to claim your prize at the New Jersey Lottery Headquarters in Lawrenceville.
