Kentucky Lottery Powerball – Powerball KY

The Kentucky Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this case the Kentucky Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.

Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run by the Multi State Lottery Association – MUSLwho run and syndicate the game across the USA and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced the biggest ever jackpot the world has seen on January 13th 2016 with an outstanding US$ 1.586 BILLION more than doubling the existing March 2012 record Mega Millions jackpot.

The very first Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1992 with 16 USA Lottery companies – who were all members of the MUSL – taking part when the game changed its format and name from Lotto America which started on February 13th 1988.

The KY Powerball began operations on April 22nd 1992 when the Powerball was launched – as the Kentucky Lottery was already a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) – having become the 15th state to join on January 10th 1991.

Kentucky Powerball How it Works

The Kentucky Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all the States and Districts in the US that offer the game.

Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and rollover after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by a minimum of US$ 10 Million each time making for some huge jackpot sums.

6 numbers are drawn in total for the KY Powerball game from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 69 white balls are drawn and then 1 number (the Powerball) from 26 red balls.

Draws for the Kentucky Powerball Lottery take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (10.59pm EST).

There is also a Powerball prize multiplier facility available when playing that dramatically increases the size of a Powerball win and is called Powerball POWERPLAY...

POWERPLAY

The Powerball POWERPLAY option is a prize multiplier and will automatically increase the Powerball win by up to 10 times the original amount – and is there to give players of the Powerball Kentucky a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the KY Powerball jackpot itself.

With the Powerball POWER PLAY option – you are easily able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and should the jackpot be less than US$ 150 Millioneven 10xgreatly increasing the prize you are able to take home with you.

Any Powerball non-jackpot 2nd prize of US$ 1 Million will immediately be doubled to US$ 2 Million when playing the KY Lottery Powerball playing with the Powerball POWERPLAY facility whatever PowerPlay number may have been drawn.
