Iowa Lottery Powerball – IA Power Ball

The Iowa Lottery is 1 of 47 US State Lotteries & District Lotteries that offer the Powerball game – in this particular case the Iowa Powerball – as part of its overall portfolio of lottery games.

Powerball is a Multi-State USA Lottery that is run by the Multi State Lottery Association – MUSLwho run and syndicate the game across the USA and is one of the largest lottery games in the world having produced the biggest ever jackpot the world has seen on January 13th 2016 with an unbelievable US$ 1.586 BILLION more than doubling the existing Mega Millions record of US$ 656 Million.

The very first Powerball draw took place on April 22nd 1992 with 16 USA Lottery companies – who were all members of the MUSL – taking part when the game changed its format and name from Lotto America which started on February 13th 1988.

The Iowa Lottery Powerball was first sold on April 22nd 1992 taking part in the first Powerball draw – since the Iowa Lottery was one of the 6 original members who formed the MUSL back on September 16th 1987.

Iowa Powerball How it Works

The Iowa Powerball works in the same way as the Powerball game works in all states and districts of the US offering the game.

Jackpots start off at US$ 40 Million and rollover after each draw when the top prize is not won – increasing in size by a minimum of US$ 10 Million each time making for some huge jackpot sums.

6 numbers are drawn in total for the Iowa Lottery Powerball from 2 separate drawing machines – firstly 5 numbers from 69 white balls are drawn then 1 number (the Powerball) from 26 red balls.

Draws for the Iowa Powerball Lottery take place twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.59pm CST (10.59pm EST).

There is also a Powerball prize multiplier facility available when playing that dramatically increases the size of a Powerball win and is called Powerball POWERPLAY

The Powerball POWERPLAY option is a prize multiplier and will automatically increase the Powerball win by up to 10 times the original amount – and is there to give players of the Iowa Powerball a chance to increase their winnings on all levels of the prize structure apart from the Iowa Lottery Powerball jackpot itself.

Using the Powerball POWER PLAY feature – you are easily able to multiply your winnings on these levels by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x and when the jackpot is US$ 150 Million or under – even 10xhugely increasing the prize amount you will walk away with.

If you have won a Powerball 2nd prize of US$ 1 Million and played with the Power Play option – this will be automatically doubled up to US$ 2 Million whatever the PowerPlay number.

Iowa Powerball How to Play

The aim when playing is to correctly select as many Powerball winning numbers as possible – and with 9 different ways in which you can win on the Iowa Power Ball – you have a great chance of winning a prize.
