Saturday 13th April 2013 saw the biggest jackpot to date won on the Lotto 649 when 4 lucky ticket holders scooped a mouth-watering CAN$ 63.4 MILLION after the popular Canadian Lottery enjoyed an 8 rollover run of draws.
The 4 Lotto 649 winners - one from Alberta and 3 from British Columbia - will split the winnings equally and each claim a piece of memorable history in the Canadian Lottery world.
The Canada Lotto 649 had been growing steadily since the jackpot was last won on Saturday 9th March 2013 and was fast becoming a big talking point among Canadian lottery players whilst even gaining international attention.
As Saturday's draw drew nearer, more and more players were out there in force to buy lottery tickets for the Lotto 649 with one chief aim of getting the biggest jackpot in Canadian Lottery history.
On Saturday evening the jackpot was advertised as an estimated CAN$ 55 MILLION which would have just broken the previous jackpot record for the Lotto 649 of CAN$ 54.3 MILLION that was won by 17 work colleagues from Camrose on October 26th 2005.
Due to the onslaught of last minute lottery ticket sales - the estimate was, in fact, not high enough - and the Lotto 649 jackpot soared to its final total of CAN$ 63,413,885.20.
Each of the 4 jackpot winning Lotto 649 tickets will take home a cool CAN$ 15,853,471.30 - a fantastic amount by anyone's standards.
The Lotto 649 results for the record breaking draw on Saturday 13th April 2013 were as follows: 2 - 10 - 17 - 19 - 44 - 47 plus the Bonus Number 40.
We now await the news of the winners themselves which will be announced in due course by the BCLC - British Columbia Lottery Corporation - who run the BC Lottery and the WCLC - Western Canada Lottery Corporation - to which the Alberta Lottery is affiliated.
