Florida Lottery players need wait no longer - the much anticipated arrival of the Mega Millions lottery is almost here! It was announced back on February 29th 2013 by the FLA Lottery that they would be joining the majority of other US Lottery companies in selling Mega Millions tickets as of May 15th 2013.
Already members of the MUSL and having sold Powerball lottery tickets since 2009 - the Florida Lottery will now be offering their players Mega Millions tickets as part of the cross-selling agreement which came into effect in January 2010.
The first Florida Mega Millions draw will take place on Friday May 17th and will be a big milestone in the history of the Florida Lottery.
The FLA Lottery will be looking forward to generating millions more in revenue to go towards state education through Mega Millions ticket sales whilst lottery players in Florida will be excited about having yet another huge multi state lottery that they can play in-state - alongside the Powerball which has been sold in Florida since January 2009.
Florida will be the 45th USA Lottery company to sell Mega Millions tickets and being such a highly populated state with a huge lottery playing fan base this will add greatly to the already large Mega Millions prize pool meaning even bigger prizes to be won down the line.
In line with almost all other US States that sell Mega Millions tickets - Florida Lottery players will also be able to make use of the MegaPlier feature which increases non jackpot prizes by up to 4 times.
So, lottery players in Florida will now have the opportunity to buy lottery tickets in-state for BOTH of the biggest US Lotteries - Powerball AND Mega Millions - both of which have, to date, produced the world's biggest lottery jackpots.
On March 30th 2012 a world record Mega Millions jackpot of US$ 656 MILLION was won and on November 28th 2012 the Powerball jackpot was won at a colossal US$ 587.5 MILLION.
These are the biggest and second biggest lottery jackpots to have been won in the world so far and with the FL Mega Millions now up and running let's hope that even these gigantic jackpots can be eclipsed in the not too distant future.
