Saskatchewan Lotteries have their headquarters based at 1870 Lorne Street in Regina – with another office at 510 Cynthia Street in Saskatoon.

Fellow members of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation – WCLC – are Alberta Lotteries, Manitoba Lotteries, Yukon Lotteries and Sport North.

As a member of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation – WCLC – Saskatchewan Lotteries are also members of the ILC – Interprovincial Lottery Corporation who run and organize the national Canadian Lottery games.

Another national Canadian Lottery from the ILC that was sold through all Saskatchewan Lottery retailers was the Lotto Super 7 from May 1994 until it was discontinued in September 2009 to make way for the Lotto MAX.

LOTTO 649

The Lotto 649 is played right across Canada and is the richest and most played out of all the Canadian Lotteries offered by the Saskatchewan Lottery and Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

The county-wide Canadian Lottery – Lotto 649 – is well known for having produced the largest Canadian Lottery jackpot ever and – often – as many as 2 out of every 3 Canadians have bought lottery tickets for the game.

Lotto 649 from Canada’s ILC – the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation – is not only played in Canada these days but also by many people overseas – using authorised online lottery ticket sales companies.

This popular 649 Lotto game was introduced in Canada back in 1982 with the very first Lotto 649 tickets being sold right across the country on June 4th 1982. Saskatchewan Lotteries sold tickets for the game from its beginning. The first jackpot available on the Lotto 649 was half a million Canadian dollars.

The first Lotto 649 draw took place on June 12th 1982 and it was the first Canadian Lottery game to allow players to select their own numbers. Previous Canadian Lotto games used pre-printed serial numbers on tickets but the introduction of the 649 Lottery made these older types of lottery tickets a thing of the past.

LOTTO 649 – Overview

The Lotto 649 is a traditional draw-style, pick six lotto game of the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation. It is the ILC flagship game and is a Canada-wide lottery that gives you the chance to win huge jackpots for just 2 dollars.

The game uses a matrix of 6/49 and the ILC make the draw twice per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays from the CTV Studio in Scarborough, Ontario at 6.30pm PT – 7.30pm MT – 8.30pm CT.

The jackpot normally starts at a figure of CAN$ 3.5 Million and if this jackpot figure is not won, the sum will be added onto the next 649 Lotto draw by way of a jackpot rollover. You can check the latest Lotto 649 rollover figure here.

The jackpot will then increase in size draw after draw until the jackpot prize is finally won meaning that the Lotto 649 can quite frequently reach some truly massive jackpot figures.

LOTTO 649 – How It Works…

The Lotto 649 – uses what’s known as a 6/49 matrix - which means that when playing this Canadian 649 Lottery game you will first of all need to select your own 6 numbers from a pool of numbers from 1 to 49 – if you match all 6 numbers drawn then you will be a jackpot winner.

As well as the 6 main numbers, a 7th number is drawn. This is the bonus number and is drawn after the 6 main numbers.

In addition to the jackpot itself, there are 5 further ways in which you can win on the Lotto 649 – with prizes to be won if you match either 5 main numbers plus the bonus number, 5 main numbers, 4 main numbers, 3 main numbers or even just 2 main numbers plus the bonus number.

A Quick Pick facility is available when playing the 649 Lotto - very much the same as the Lucky Dip option that is used in the UK National Lottery or Europe’s popular EuroMillions or the Quick Pick of many other Canadian Lotteries and USA Lottery games – which means that you can ask the lottery retailer or computer to randomly select all your 649 Lotto numbers for you.

So, playing the Saskatchewan Lotteries – Lotto 649 is easy…just select your own 6 numbers – request them to be randomly generated for you by using the Quick Pick option or use an online random number generator – then simply check the very latest Lotto 649 Results.
