Lotto Plus
The TN Lottery is one of the more recent additions to the state lotteries scene in the USA.
It is operated by the Tennessee Education Lottery Council (TELC) which was formed in June 2003 by the Tennessee General Assembly.
As its name would imply, the Tennessee Education Lottery Council is designed to act in the very best of interests for the citizens of the state of Tennessee with the whole aim being to use lottery funding to provide finance towards education.
The Tennessee Lottery is also a member of the Multi-State lottery Association (MUSL), and participates in the Powerball lottery.
The Tennessee Lottery sold its very first lottery tickets as recently as January 2004
There are various different games that Tennessee Lottery runs, including Cash 3, Cash 4, Pick 5 and there are also a number of instant scratch off games.
This State Lotteries’ main game, though, is the Tennessee Lotto Plus and this is the game that will be looking at below and reviewing in full…
Lotto Plus - Overview
Tennessee Lottery introduced the Lotto Plus game into its range on March 9th 2008.
Lotto Plus is a classic style six number lottery game that uses a 6/44 matrix.
It is drawn every week on Tuesdays and Friday evenings with the draws taking place at 10pm Central Time (11pm EST).
Tennessee Lotto Plus jackpots start out at $1million and the Lotto Plus also uses a “Multiplier” option similar to the “PowerPlay” feature used in the Multi-State Powerball game.
Having fully looked into and reviewed this quite new world lottery, we are pleased to say that it looks very good, the figures are attractive and that we think it is a great game to play in and would recommend any participation.
How It Works…
The Tennessee Lottery Lotto Plus uses what’s known as a 6/44 matrix which means that when playing Lotto Plus, you need to select 6 numbers from a pool of numbers from 1 to 44 – if you match all 6 numbers drawn then you will be a TN Lotto jackpot winner.
There are other cash prizes to be won too, if you match either 5 of the numbers drawn, 4 numbers or even just 3.
A Quick Pick facility is available when playing Tennessee Lotto games similar to the “Lucky Dip” that is used in the UK National Lottery or Europe’s Euromillions – which means that you can get the computer terminal to select all your Tennessee Lottery numbers for you if you wish.
So, playing the Tenn Lottery Lotto Plus is simple…just select your own 6 numbers or let the computer generate them automatically for you.
Each entry on the Tennessee State Lottery Lotto Plus game costs just $1.00.
Each time the jackpot is not won, it “rolls over” to the next draw. So…the jackpot will begin at a value of $1 million and each time there is no jackpot winner it will increase by a minimum of $100,000 per “rollover” and this aspect of the TN Lottery results in some very sizeable jackpot amounts.
Random Number Generator
Since July 2007, the Tennessee Lottery has moved away from drawing its lottery numbers in the traditional way – ie. balls rotating around in a drum – to using a Random Number Generator (RNG).
Lotto PLUS Feature…
The PLUS feature of the Tennessee Lotto Plus game is a winnings “Multiplier” and works in a similar fashion to the "PowerPlay" feature used in the Powerball lottery game.
Basically, it gives you the chance to place a slightly higher wager to begin so that if you should win on the Lotto Plus, your non-jackpot winnings will be multiplied accordingly.
When the Lotto Plus is drawn a separate PLUS Feature Multiplier number is also randomly selected from a pool of 12 numbers made up of numbers from 2 through 5.
If you have purchase this PLUS Feature option on your Tennessee Lottery Lotto Plus ticket, your non-jackpot winnings will be multiplied by whatever the Plus Feature number is that was selected.
The cost of using the PLUS Feature when playing the Tennessee Lotto Plus is an extra $1.00 making your total charge for your entry just $2.00.
Who Can Play?
As with most lotteries in the U.S.A., in the past, only citizens living in the State of Tennessee were allowed to play in any of the Tennessee Lottery games including the Lotto Plus and tickets had to be purchased from an authorized lottery ticket retailer based in Tennessee.
Now, however, with the welcome presence of authentic online lottery ticket sales agencies like TheLotter you are able to pick your Tennessee Lottery numbers online and purchase your tickets and it doesn’t matter where in the world you may live.
This is excellent news if you live outside of Tennessee and the U.S.A. but want to play the Tennessee Lotto Plus and guarantee your entry into the next draw or just simply wish to enjoy the convenience of being able to buy lottery tickets online.
Once you have entered into the Lotto Plus, you are then easily able to check the Tennessee Lottery results online to see how you have done and to find out if you have become one of the lucky TN Lottery winners.
You must be 18 years of age to be eligible to purchase a ticket for any of the Tennessee State Lottery games including Lotto Plus.

Some great news here for all USA Lottery players in Tennessee...
The Multi State Lottery Association (MUSL) – who administer the POWERBALL game – and the Mega Millions consortium – who administer the MEGA MILLIONS game – have entered into an historic cross-sales agreement across the USA. All US Lotteries that previously sold POWERBALL tickets can now ALSO sell MEGA MILLIONS tickets.
This means that with effect from January 31st 2010 – in addition to the existing POWERBALL – USA Lottery players in Tennessee will now ALSO be able to buy lottery tickets for the MEGA MILLIONS. You can still buy lottery tickets online, of course, from anywhere around the world. |

Where Does The Money Go?
Most citizens win with the Tennessee State Lottery – especially families and students right across the state.
The Tennessee Lottery Scholarship started in 2004 introducing lottery-funded scholarships and grants which became available to students in Tennessee who were attending public or private colleges or universities within the state.
How the State Benefits…
Lottery monies are put into a special education account by the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation and the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation administers all lottery funded grants and scholarships under the HOPE scholarship program.
As well as scholarships, the Tennessee Lottery benefits various pre-kindergarten and after-school programs by providing lottery revenue funding.
